Access the heart of the city
Go up on foot…
To reach the historic heart of Ropes on Sky which is located at the top of the village (800m to walk) we advise you to take the Grand Rue de l'Horloge, opposite the Place Jeanne Ramel-Cals, a few meters from the Bouteillerie.
Be careful, cobbled streets and quite steep slope. Things to see along the way: heritage sites, artists' and craftsmen's studios, shops, viewpoints.
Allow at least 20 minutes… and wear suitable shoes!
Buses must drop off their passengers at the foot of the city, on Avenue du 8 Mai 1945, at the drop-off point reserved for this purpose.
Access for disabled people
The Tourist Office has obtained the "Tourism and Disability" label for hearing and mental disabilities. Indeed, the Medieval Cities of Ropes on Sky and Penne are two hilltop villages with a significant difference in altitude and cobblestone streets, often uneven. The many difficulties of outdoor travel (holes, slopes) do not allow a person with reduced mobility, visual impairment or blindness to move around these cities independently.
For people with hearing impairments: a sound amplifier (magnetic loop) and a slate facilitate communication for people with hearing impairments at the Tourist Office reception (link to the BIT).
Also, to allow everyone to visit the city, reserved parking spaces adapted for people with reduced mobility are available (PMR badge to be presented under the windshield).
In Cordes sur ciel: suitable public parking is located less than 100 m from the tourist office on the Place de l'église Saint-Michel and 180 m on the Planol. Accessible public toilets are located less than 150 m from the tourist office, opposite the Church.
Attention! To benefit from these spaces, you must highlight the relevant sticker. If you do not have a sticker in your vehicle, you can still be dropped off in the city, but your driver will have to park outside the city. In Cordes, other parking spaces are located in the lower town.
You should also know that a small train is at your service from the lower town to the gates of the medieval city and that it can transport people with a wheelchair (May to September).
