The Mas de Grouze is located in the Midi-Pyrénées region in Rabastens in the Tarn, halfway between Toulouse and Albi in the Gaillac vineyard, whose origins most likely date back to the Roman occupation.
The estate comprises nearly 32 hectares of vines, 62% of which are near the buildings of Mas de Grouze in clay-limestone soils on the terrace overlooking the plain of Rabastens and the Tarn. The remaining 38% are located on gravelly soils on the left bank of the Tarn in the commune of Loupiac located near Rabastens.
The grape varieties on the farm (81% black grapes and 19% white) are very diverse to cope with a very wide range of products.
Mauzac, the oldest white grape variety from Gaillac, is used in the production of the entire range of white wines, sometimes in association with the typically Gaillac “Len de l'El” with its very fine aromas, and Muscadelle.
Duras and Fer Servadou (or Braucol) form the basis of the red appellation. Duras, an ancient Gallic grape variety, provides structure and finesse, while the more rustic Fer Servadou provides colour and spicy flavours.
Syrah, Merlot, Cabernets, regional grape varieties, bring the subtlety of the aroma.
Gamay, a widespread grape variety, is reserved for rosé wines and new wines.
The oceanic microclimate, tempered by the Autan wind, gives its diversity and richness to the vineyard
