Clos Rocailleux
Located on the Cordais plateau, at an altitude of 300m on clay-limestone soils, Clos Rocailleux is a 7-hectare estate run using organic farming methods. Luc and Lucinda welcome you for tastings or visits. Call to book.
Clos Rocailleux has been certified in Organic Agriculture since 2021. Beyond this label, the work in the vineyard aims to promote a virtuous ecosystem. The soil is enriched by plant cover, natural meadows separate the different plots and the hedges present are of course preserved. A planting project is currently being developed in order to develop this environment and improve the growing conditions. A good wine is prepared above all in the vineyard!
This is why the harvest is done by hand: selecting the grapes directly on the vine avoids complicated winemaking. This entire process allows wines to be produced without the addition of any input: fermentation starts spontaneously and intervention is reduced to a strict minimum.
The wines of Clos Rocailleux reflect all the authenticity of the indigenous grape varieties* and the soils of the Cordais plateau.
The meeting between Luc and Lucinda was love at first sight in the snow and in the Braucol.
They met in the vineyards during the pruning season. Both had a shared desire to change their lives and have their feet on the ground and their heads in the clouds. And by a happy coincidence, an estate was going to be put up for sale while they were training in Gaillac. Without further ado, they went to visit this English couple who had been settled there for 8 years: 7 hectares of vines, 6 different grape varieties, a winery, a house. The project was waiting for them.
*The grape varieties of the estate: Loin de l'œil, Mauzac and Muscadelle used for white wines; Braucol, Duras and Syrah for red wines
