The most beautiful viewpoints on Gaillac, Cordes sur Ciel and the medieval cities

Symbols of our territory by their perched and singular character, the bastides and Occitan villages give visitors a sense of height. As well as enjoying getting lost in their narrow streets to get to know them better, they can be discovered through a selection of unobstructed viewpoints, offering spectacular views. With only the surrounding nature and its changing colours throughout the seasons for company, you will be inspired by the gentle way of life here. Visit the most beautiful spots in the area to get close to our mountains and wonders!

The most beautiful sunset

Puycelsi

Climbing towards the medieval town, we take the path through the forest. After a few metres and a bend, the view is already stunning. In the absolute calm of this road with little traffic, we stop for a moment to observe the view on Puycelsi. The sun changes colours and colours the sky with shimmering tones, a grandiose spectacle! When you reach the village ramparts, you are doubly surprised by the superb panorama of the Vère valley and the Grésigne forest.

Other options: take the Mespel path or the Heritage path to admire the village perched on its rocky promontory from the edge of the forest. And from Castelnau de Montmiral, the view from the road leading to the Château de Terride via the hamlet of Laval is also worth a visit!

To go green

Castelnau de Montmiral

We reach the Croix Saint-Jérôme, the starting point of the Chemin de Gradille, but also one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the area. Amongst the green and agricultural landscapes, the panorama on the bastide of Castelnau de Montmiral leaves you speechless. These beautiful images are both exotic and rejuvenating and soothe the spirit.

To awaken your senses

Andillac

Between the golden fields of wheat, the meadows, and vines in leaf and in flower, we stop at the foot of one of the many pigeon houses of Andillac, surely the most beautiful we have seen so far! It is the ideal place to admire the white stone ensemble of the medieval village, which is distinguished by its renovation: what a proud look it has now!

To stand next to the clouds

Cordes sur Ciel

Perched on its hill, it seems to tickle the sky. Let's climb up there to feel less tiny in front of it and observe it in all its splendour. From Cordes sur Ciel, we take the Avenue de la République where a small slope that goes up on the left leads to a breathtaking view. At the first and last light of day, the clouds envelop the city and seem to bewitch it.

To feed the imagination

Penne

It seems to have come straight out of a legend or a bewitching tale, so much so that it intrigues us... To discover it in a magical setting, you have to leave the village and follow the D9 road. Once you reach the first bend in the road, you can see it from above, and its eagle's nest fortress impresses you even more.
