Tablette d'interprétation Puycelsi, forteresse des bois

Perched on its promontory, Puycelsi dominates the Grésigne forest and the Vère valley which winds between green banks along the hamlets of Laval and Pont Bourguet.
In the distance, the pink limestone cliffs announce the village of Larroque.
If you leave the observatory, pass the Saint-Roch chapel and enter the narrow streets lined with 16th century stone houses.

In the Saint-Corneille church, look up, it is the painters of the Albi cathedral who painted the ceiling of the nave.
It is said that when besieged by the English during the Hundred Years' War, the inhabitants of Puycelsi made them believe that they had an abundance of food by walking a beautiful pig along the ramparts. This was not the case, but this subterfuge apparently ended up tiring the assailant who left. You can find a small pig sculpted on the church portal.

Return to the heart of the village via the old ramparts!
Here, there are no prosperous bourgeois houses, everything is simple, everything is harmonious, everything is bathed in light. It is said that here you can see the most beautiful sunsets in the region.
Don't doubt it, linger and enjoy!
