Hikes accessible by train and departing from Matabiau station
For these hikes, simply board the train at Matabiau station and let yourself be rocked before getting off and starting your day of walking. We have chosen three hikes accessible to 50 minutes maximum from Toulouse, walking time to reach the route included 😁.

Lisle-sur-Tarn – 30 min by train
Tuscany in Lille

Take Avenue de la Gare, then turn left and immediately right to join the Rue de l'Enclos route. It's time for a 5-hour walk through plains, vineyard hillsides, umbrella pines, and cypress trees. Pack a picnic to make the most of your day.

Rabastens – 45 min by train
The Auzerals Lake Trail

From Rabastens train station, cross the Tarn River and continue to the town hall, where this 3-hour walk begins. You'll climb to the heights of Rabastens and walk through nature to Lake Auzerals, ideal for a picnic break! On the way back down, you'll pass through the vineyards with a beautiful view of Rabastens.

Gaillac – 50 min by train
The heights of Gaillac

No need to go all the way to the starting point: you can start the walk on the heights of Gaillac by following Rue Marcel Pagnol, at the roundabout. A 5-hour walk awaits you through the Gaillac vineyards and its rolling hills. Take your picnic or leave at dawn to return to Gaillac and enjoy lunch on a terrace.

In the car, Simone! Or on the motorbike, Janot. Let's take the road, heading northeast. Between 1h15 and 1h45 to join one of these hikes. And since we've been on the road, we might as well take the opportunity to explore the surrounding area.

A Grand Canyon feel (only smaller)
The dunes of Maraval

A change of scenery guaranteed in the dunes of Maraval located to the east of Cordes sur Ciel. For the moment, the trail is designed to be an 800-meter round trip. A longer route will soon be offered.
The dunes are in a Sensitive Natural Area (ENS), please stay on the path and preserve this unique ecosystem in the Tarn 🧡.

The first few kilometers are steep! But the reward is at the end of the road: an incredible view of the medieval city of Cordes sur CielAllow 3 hours for the walk. Our advice: bring a picnic to enjoy the scenery a little longer.

Into the wild in Penne
The Suquets

We head down a path to reach the village of Penne, where the castle ruins cling to the limestone cliff. Then we gently climb to Les Suquets, the highest point of this 3-hour walk. From there, admire the view of the Aveyron Valley and let the serenity of the place take over.
