Musée Au Passé Retrouvé

The museum gets bigger in 2021 ! So, over 750 m² on everything that made the everyday life of our ancestors who lived in our beautiful countyside around 1900. Discover the lives of previous generations and more than 42 jobs organized by themes.

The "Au Passé retrouvé" museum, which will open in 2019, is already expanding! It exhibits trades and methods that have been somewhat forgotten in wood (carpenter, joiner, clog maker, yoke maker, etc.), leather (upholsterer, shoemaker, bookbinder, etc.), minerals (stone cutter, brick maker, modeller, potter), metal (nail maker, wheelwright, etc.), and other materials (woodworker, bricklayer, etc.). ), mineral (stonecutter, bricklayer, modeller, potter), metal (nailmaker, wheelwright, blacksmith, blacksmith, foundry), and fabrics (seamstress, lacemaker, washerwoman, ironer, linen and wool worker), not forgetting the typical work of the peasant (farm tools, animal accessories, but also the remover, the tailor, the basket maker, the beekeeper, etc.), and the special life of the mountain people. ), and the special life of the mountain people and their everyday objects which are often more like works of art.
You will also see the daily life of the time: school, life at home (kitchen, bedroom, activities...).
Dozens of scenarios and old trades will remind you of the life of your grandparents. A whole French cultural heritage that must not be forgotten.
In addition, temporary exhibitions are held to enhance the museum's collection. In 2021, there will be a magnificent collection of fine basketry as well as exceptional works of woodworking tools, so beautiful that we dare not use them.
All generations can find themselves here, so don't hesitate to go with friends or family.
A new space will be opened in 2021 on popular arts and traditions: shepherds of the Couserans valley, the hairdresser, the doctor, the glassmaker, printing, the hunter and all his traps, the fisherman, basketry with many objects on display, the blower on vere.
The museum is juxtaposed to the wine conservatory museum "inVINcible VIGNEron", the entrance and services (parking, shops, opening hours...etc.) are common to both museums.
