The charming village of Penne, known as an eagle's nest or citadel of vertigo, stands like a silent sentinel above the Aveyron Gorges, between Albigeois, Quercy and Rouergue. The village's winding lanes have retained the atmosphere of yesteryear and will lead you to the castle, an imposing medieval fortress built in the Middle Ages, a vestige of Occitan military architecture. At the top of this rocky peak, the building seems to take flight. From here, visitors can look out over the wilderness of the Grésigne forest and the Aveyron river below.
The only one of its kind in Occitanie, this site, whose origins date back to the time of the knights and lords of the Middle Ages, is for walkers and medievalists alike. Up there, you'll discover a working site, a veritable open history book on the construction of a fortress, Catharism and life in the Middle Ages.

Independent gîte, next to the owners' home, at the foot of the Château de Penne on one side and the Causse on the other. Ground floor: huge living room (95m²), central fireplace, fully-equipped open-plan kitchen, wc, shower. Upstairs: four bedrooms (3 doubles, the fourth sleeps four), shower room, wc, mezzanine with sofa bed.
